Mark McIntyre has dedicated his career to building the capacity of nonprofit institutions and organizations through both federal funding and private support.

Prior to co-founding Merchant McIntyre Associates, Mark founded and then led the Russ Reid Company Washington office for 18 years. At that time, Russ Reid was the largest direct response marketing and fundraising agency in the United States, serving exclusively nonprofits. During his tenure, Russ Reid raised, on average, more than $2 million a day.

Mark began his Washington career working in Congress as a Press Secretary and Legislative Aide. He later served as Chief Speechwriter and Domestic Policy Advisor to then-Vice President Bush. Following the 1988 presidential campaign, Mark joined Cassidy and Associates, a government relations firm specializing in helping secure federal support for institutions of higher education, healthcare systems, local governments, and social service agencies.

Mark has served as a board member to a variety of different nonprofits. He currently serves on the board of the Appalachia Service Project, a Christ-centered nonprofit that repairs substandard homes and constructs new homes for indigent people in Tennessee, Kentucky, Virginia, West Virginia, and North Carolina.

Mark is also active in the International Fellowship, the nonprofit ministry that runs the annual National Prayer Breakfast in Washington, DC, and oversees prayer breakfasts in national capitals around the world.

Mark is an award-winning journalist whose articles have appeared in the Chicago Tribune, Boston Globe, Hartford Courant, and New Haven Register.

Mark earned a B.A. in English from Yale University.
